This is not IMP KO, but Imp-VP, 12 boards :)

Hi Timo, this was also my approach.

My partner asked me this question : so what do you bid now after 1 1 1 1NT ? And with AK65 Qx AQxxx Jx, seems even worse (2NT now ?).

I thought 1 with that was a no-brainer, but I began to have doubts :).

@John: yes tournament will have to print a separate sheet for every pair, but that's actually the case on our side of the rubicon (we get a specific pair-sheet, with name of oppos and so on…). No big deal.

Couldn't find the 2.8 card in the bidding box. Hence I bid 3.

The main problem with keeping a scorecard opened to scrutiny is that it is statistically improving your OWN score if opps cheat. They will get hints to play at all tables… except yours. So much for providing fake scores to cheaters : you also will have to pay for that. That's also why it's a difficult problem.

There is a simple software solution (only in principle though) to solve that : the bridgemate could provide a unique number between 1 and 32 depending on the number of the board AND the number of the table, at the end of the scoring process, the permutation function depending on a key that could be chosen at the beginning of the session (using basic latin squares for example). In practice, it would work like this : just enter the score at the table, check it, and at the end of the check the bridgemate provides you with a CODE . All you have is to enter the result on your sheet at line 23 instead of line 14. In the end, when you print out your scoresheet you will see a line like :

CODE Board-number Table Contract Making Score
23———14———————-7——-4H———-11——450
while your manual sheet will only be like :
23 4H 450

Now it's almost as easy to score live and to check at the end, and cheating becomes virtually impossible.

Not that I think it will be implemented one day :)

It looks as if I've 13 cards, but my pard already knows that for sure.

I think the answer is in the question. If you cannot force partner with a natural heart bid, you have to resort to a non descriptive forcing bid (CUE 2). This is clearly non satisfactory, and I suggest you tweak your system.

Too bad that we are not allowed to XX here to show a COG. Thanks for the problem though, something interesting to discuss with pard (4D as pure COG versus COG with extras)

Curious decision not to bid 3 on the round before (or any GoodBad-like bid).

I would Pass but don't consider 2NT as criminal.

I think that about 98% of the players won't pass.

Hi Ben,

OP says “BAL or ” implying that a 1NT opener wasn't available only for range reasons imho.

I would *have* to open 1 because of system choices.
