One pair out of 38 tables found 7D. 6H made on 7 tables, 6C on 2, 6D on two and 20 S tables, mostly doubled, went down. Par was 7Sx-800. I should have bid 5S because my parter and I experience one other hand like two years in a Regional. I sure my partner would read this as s void, big hand, possible Grand Slam. 6D should have been my other choice. I should have considered my opponents. They are excellent andI knew my RHO would raise to 6S if he had anything. My 5D bid was just not thought out. However 5S would say a lot to my partner about my hand strength and possible Grand Slam interest. If RHO passes and pard bids 6D, I'll go to 7D.

Thanks. I appreciate this feedback. It looks like I should have done something else instead of my 5D? Maybe that will prove a more on point learning experience for me.

W most likely does have H so pass 2S or raise 3S/4S pick your poison. You might get lucky.

4 is strong, descriptive, and still is GF or better. Hard to believe that partner has HCPs. Let’s find out?

I’m bidding 2 with this Hand. I have a highly distributional hand my own strong an strong support for thr opener’s suit with stoppers in the other suits. I have 19 HCPs, 20 length Pts, 21 support Pts. Sand 5 LTC or at worst Game in the minors NT. True Opener could have a 12 Pts flat hand but let’s find out

BTW, good to know. Changes my perspective on the hand.

I’d rather have the opener’s Hand hidden and in a 5/2 than show any sign of encouragement. If we were Non-Vul then Clubs.

My partner would not have 5 unless looking for slam in cross imps. So I’ve have 2 Aces and trump K I’m bidding it.

I didn't think about 5S but I like it. Fairly safe and shows slam interest

Yes, given it’s your system. We play 15-17 1NT. We are intermediate players and 3N after transfer to 3 would be to play. Here, I would do Gerber. I would be looking for 6 or 6N.

After two passed hands I would bid 2N. Your style might be 1C in 1st position figuring no one will pass 1C out.

I guess I didn’t understand the 2D as 2/1 response.

We did not ask to if E2D was Inv. M. North thought we did not have game going points and 3H was only competitive as Alan’s comment points out. Craig’s suggestion that 3D is a better descriptive bid is what I should have done. It certainly engages everyone’s thinking what as to do next.

They were not plating Inv. Minor. I was South and I would bid 2S in any case.
