Maybe not all days but you should never have 2 consecutive days w/o an opportunity.

Take the GNT-if you lose the 2nd KO you cannot enter the 3-day pairs and you have 2 days with no National event. It gave me incentive last year when we faced Meckwell that Friday-sigh not enuf as it turned out.

All 3 day national events should have an event that begins the 2nd day-maybe a “lesser” event. But still, Having the 2 day IMP pairs coincide with the start of the Platinum? Or is that the senior pairs now. Whatever Yes I know that gives a series of 2 day events but really it is obvious that the schedule is made by players who do not play in the better events

And you know, adding Meckwell sure adds validity to the “blue ribbon” pairs. Maybe making Ely a LM would add validity there as well.

I think the double should have gotten what it deserved.Did they think they had it beat it opposite 7 solid D'd and and Ace? Law of coincidences I think.

I played in this event for the fist time and the only problems was that twice my partner was chastised for returning to the table with 1 minute left in the clock from the previous round. Those that play in it like to avoid delays due to various things that slow the game. Hence, when Ed thought he could not make 4Hs, he did not take extra time to work out that 4H could not be defeated.
What stands out to me is that if we actually discuss the hand the opponents agreed there was a noticeable hesitation and often in less tempo sensitive situations I see players deny they noticed it. Beside pure time one can often detect “studied pauses”. There is the law of coincidence here. N makes an aggressive 3H call and after partners makes a highly speculative aggressive double judges his hand better for offense than defense? In another event the players would suggest the director actually make a ruling.

Is this thread serious?

Maybe better to look at how to make it cheaper for all.
I paid my dues as a grad student-we had no trouble affording-sure we shared 6 to a 2 person room and made sandwiches and drove cross country. Always found rooms without priceline. I remember sleeper in Ron's camper at a dallas regional. Others like Ron and Judi Smith enabled us until-was that O'Brian?

In Texas we have trouble with hotels as all do but you know if you get a volume at a Bridge tournament you can actually make money. Of course I have attended 50+ BOD meetings in D16 and all we get is a free breakfast.

Indeed The regionals here that top 1200 tables make $2-5 for each $13 entry-and entries have maybe increased 20% over 12 years-still make good money and support the sectionals plus.

My Swiss team in Vegas will cost me 150% more than the last Vegas National (Of course I make stuff up but I don't have to with this)

Now at 10K tables it eludes me that the ACBL can't manage with 30-40% of their entries at $25 the rest at $16.

It ain't the nationals themselves that lose money management has failed us.

I think half the last National BOD report talked about their cryptic masterpoint adjustments and really-they did a really piss poor job-that is another post I am sure but after Hawaii.

I plan to attend the membership meeting at Las Vegas -we need 250-if you are there and want to write “solutions” here online you have some obligation to help with the quorom.

Bobby Goldman and Paul Soloway played a unique system. It was based on the number of letter in the spot card. So ten-three was low high, nine ten was high low and ten two was????

They were tryong to make point about evolution of signaling

The most important thing is playing the same carding as your partner

Sigh -dbl would be S and another
It is the only partner I have this agreement. Funny the inventor of the system(Hinzu) was our teammate and he no longer plays it.

I thought about 5H and would partner go with 4 or 3?
With 4 7 is a good bet

Of course I would not change the system for 1 hand but I surely prefer a penalty dbl and then a cue bid or 5H

2N or 4 N would get a club bid and then you bid 6?
Pard could be 5512 or 5422
