in the past most of this was done by Stephen Picket with his bridgebrowser software…..but the hands were from acbl, ok bridge, and gen pop.

so there was no comparison of reliability of data from hands being used in three different types of games.

also in large games over several days or one large game not everyone plays the same hands to obstruct cheating.

I say that long time ago I used prescription Dexidrene to play bridge. It definitely works better than caffeine….but it is not something that can be done daily….My brother in law who was involved in the first Gulf war said that when they flew B1 bombers there they had to sign off on taking ampthetamines to keep them awake and alert on the long flight there.

thats what the comment about travel pertains too, some teams didnt compete because at one time everything was Portland centered. thats why parts of Norcal left the district. I am not beating up on D20 just stating that even with online ability which means no travel the event isnt getting larger but smaller. oh and by the way My dad was District president for some of those years.

I would have thought with online play the game finals would increase but it didnt.

considering it was online, that is not what i would call something to be proud of. Having played in it from 79 to 92 you cant use travel as an excuse.

why BBO data?
this has been done in the past by Stephen Pickett 20 yrs ago.
http://microtopia.net/bridge/

Somewhere along the way, BBO quit giving up the database to Steve.
He also had the data for OK Bridge….but there was alot of
GIGO…(garbage In garbage out).

As far a limiting to particular events, I always tried to talk to him about coming up with a package for the blue ribbon pairs. Believe me you dont want ordinary BBO events.

Scott:
i sort of ran a sim on this about 7 yrs ago. but it was with a strong NT. The strong NT had a 4-4 in one major and the the other was 4333. What I remember is that as we went up in total points between the two, Playing in NT vs a major def was better…we arent talking about 15 opposite 10(25)….but as the two got closer to about 28+ points.
