Jonathan, We were said to have a quorum, though attendance was light.

I must admit that I don't know exactly what the BoG can ask to be reconsidered and what not. Can decisions on player eligibility be be sent back to the BoD (I doubt that) or just complained about (there was a little of that)? I do remember that almost all motions we've passed requesting reconsideration are again voted down. I think there was one, recently, that was changed.

To me, it seems like the BoG is now mostly a ceremonial organization. Yes, there are motions made, arguments given (on both sides), and votes take. But it doesn't seem like the BoD gives a whole lot of consideration to items passed by the BoG. Maybe some of the more senior BoG member, who put a lot of time into preparing motions and working on committees, feel otherwise. I'd be interested in hearing what Steve Moese, for one, had to say.

Maybe the A&C Committee needs to be populated entirely with experienced, high level bridge players and not lawyers.

Jonathan, someone asked at the BoG Meeting, and it was confirmed. I don't know if it was Jay or Joe who was asked.

Sad. Now, I see some of the others posting on BW. Do they think we consider them rehabilitated? At a minimum, I'd at least a public mea culpa or allocution - AND an identification of any others they knew were dirty.

True, they made a low qualifying offer. I had him on my fantasy baseball team when he was in NY.

Amy: Daniel Murphy wasn't traded by the Mets. He signed with the Nats as a free agent after the 2015 season.

Rena, I don't want to speak for Jack, but he is a lawyer and has also negotiated a number of contracts for ATL regionals and NABCs, I believe.

His expertise may be useful to the ACBL.

IMO, Reno is a great site. Multiple hotels without going outside, relatively cheap, casinos with race/sports books, food prices not exorbitant, casinos (yes, mentioned that twice).

Only problem (from my perspective) is it is a 3-legged flight for many.

Rena won't blow her own horn, but she was also a volunteer at the USBF Team Trials, when they were held in Memphis. She was there every day.

I counted 324 pairs vs. 203 this year - a drop of almost 40%.

The Marriott next door is much nicer, or was 10 years ago.

Do I have a way to distinguish between a good raise & weak raise to 3 (e.g., 2N = weak raise, 3 = good raise)?

Debbie, I am only Marriott Gold (old) or Platinum (in the new program) and am Spire with IHG. Yet, I'll be staying at the Sheraton in MEM. I've stayed at the MEM Crowne Plaza several times in the last few years and it doesn't have a whole lot to recommend it. No Concierge Lounge, a little farther from the convention center and restaurant area.

The Sheraton seems to have a club lounge. It used to be a Marriott and was the host hotel in 2012. I haven't stayed there since, but assume it will be preferable to the CP.

If you have options, you'd be more likely to go with the place gives you perks. At least, I am. I stay a lot of nights in hotels, typically 3 chains. Between the nights stayed and their credit cards, I have good to top tier status. Am I going to stay at one that charges me a high rate and doesn't give me any of the benefits I'm supposed to get? No, I'll go next door.

I use OnPeak for 80% or so of my NABC reservations. In the future, I will verify that I am getting what I think I'm getting. ACBL should revisit this policy or (I expect) hotel business will get worse.

Nor the Platinum upgrade or the Diamond Food Voucher (in lieu of Executive Lounge) or upgraded Wifi.

DM: “Remember that Georgia Heth used to be in charge of discipline for the WBF. A stellar credential for dealing with ethical issues.”

And also the head of the A&C Committee, responsible for reducing a significant penalty to a 2-week Christmas vacation. Wouldn't be my first choice for any type of investigation.

Debbie, you're right. I had seen the reviews for the Hilton Waikiki Beach. Guess I didn't realize there were two. It seems they give you vouchers in lieu of having a lounge.

The did announce that you don't the perks that come with the “resort fee” without paying extra. But I saw nothing about not accruing HH points or no access to Executive Lounge. That sucks. It's never happened before (that I recall) and I've booked with OP quite a few times.

I'm feeling much better about booking with HH points. The resort fee bennies are included, without any extra points or charges (it's likely due to my status with Hilton).
