I prefer Woolsey, as described above, with the Dbl only 4M-5+m. I only use it over strong NTs (top range up to 16, but can we can decide that some playing 13-16 are really weak NTs). Vs. Weak NTs, we just use Dbl as pen and all the 2 suited M-m hands get lumped into 2/2. We usually have a 5 card major.

Peg, I went to SD a day earlier than needed last year (didn't play first event). That was enough for the 2 hour difference, but I think you're right. The 4 will be hard. Fortunately, I'm somewhat of a night owl, so maybe getting in Friday to play Sunday will be OK for me. If not, like you said, maybe I'll have some company.

If I go to HNL, I'll fly out 2 days before I start playing.

2 for majors is better than 2, since advancer can bid 2 to ask for better major. You don't play 2 on a 4-2 or 4-3 with a 5-2 or 5-3 fit.

“Witch hunt” has been mentioned numerous times on this thread. It implies that there is little or nothing to the claims, or at least a strong overreaction.

Hugh Kelsey is conspicuous by his absence on the list (though it does say “and many more.”

There was no way to be too rude to RA.

“John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival) was accused of plagiarising his own music by the person who had bought the rights to his old music.”

Saul Zaentz owned the CCR catalog. When Fogerty (as a solo artist) tried to play his songs in concert, he got blowback. This led the the final track on his Centerfield album, “Zanz Can't Danz” (but he'll steal your money.)“ Soon after release, he was forced to change it to ”Vanz Can't Danz."

He is now (and has been for a good while) playing CCR tunes in concert again, and still sounds pretty good.

TS said "…The IBPA is the only body which could be able to put an end to this which-hunt ….

From Merriam-Webster online:
“Definition of witch hunt
1 : a searching out for persecution of persons accused of witchcraft
2 : the searching out and deliberate harassment of those (such as political opponents) with unpopular views”

I don't think anyone is accusing him of being a witch, nor is deliberately harassing him due to his views. Witch-hunt is not what this is.

I think this comment was made tongue-in-cheek.

“He is clearly trying to play down the seriousness of his crimes.”

AND trying to deflect criticism back onto others in the same blurb. Maybe a better apology in an editorial without the “you, too, Bub!” part would have been more appropriate.

“Y'all need to get back to bridge now.”

Some people in Alabama use y'all as singular and “All y'all” as plural :)

In 1976, a U.S. court found the George Harrison song “My Sweet Lord” was “subconsciously plagiarized” from “He's so Fine” (1963 Chiffons song). There were years of appeal, but I think he eventually lost - don't know what damages were assessed.

There used to be a small group that would dress as Rocky Horror Picture Show characters before going to a showing after a night session. This was 35+ years ago. One is still playing (and was present in ATL).

I would either play 1M-3N is a good 1-4, or use Bergen 3 to show a LR, and alert that partner may continue to game over a sign-off with a “forcing” limit raise (which is how I evaluate this).

Partner must not break tempo over 3, lest your raise to 4 be questioned. He should anticipate this decision as soon as he opens 1.

Many don't wash their hands in the “Wash Room.” I always try to open the door with a paper towel.

Whether it's forcing or not is by partnership agreement, not a firm rule.

To echo many other comments, thanks to Joe Sherwood and Judy Fendrick (and the host of volunteers) on a very well run tournament with excellent hospitality and a great venue.
