Assuming 4 is a xfer, 4 can be both minors.

I play that with a “punt” hand (i.e., no fit, 4th suit not stop), I rebid the cheapest suit I have previously bid. So for #3, it is an easy 3.

With a minimum, I would always raise s with 1354, so on this auction, 3 can't be that. Thus, without discussion otherwise, 3 is this type hand. Therefore, I have to bid 3 with #2, as well. and if I get the opportunity, offer s next.

Correct. A “friendly” amendment to the fragrance motion was proposed, IIRC, and it was not accepted. We did not vote on a “smoke” odor, or if we did, it was not passed.

I was wondering what % would Dbl. You don't have many tricks.

Dbl is best on this hand. Partner is 5-5 in blacks, with about 9 HCP, including KJxxx of .

Richard, please note that Vicki Willis (D10 President) appointed 2 new people to the BOG a few months ago (Charles Durrin and Drew Casen) to replace Claire Chisler (unable to continue) and “vacant.”

The link provided by Len does not reflect these appointments. D10 should now have a full contingent.

OK, that 'splains it. Sort of like the UK vs. US Beatles albums.

I didn't see “Master Play,” Terence Reese.

I also think “Country Life Book of Bridge,” Maurice Harrison-Gray, is a worthwhile read. It was one of the 15-20 books I read during my 1st year of playing (1975).

Ira, I would say “I've got a brand new pair of roller skates, you've got a brand new key,” but I won't.

The way I handle the 4-5 inv. hand is to bid Stayman, then 2N. If accepting, partner can show a 3 card suit on the way to 3N.

I do, unless my spades are bad and hearts very good, in which case, I bid Garbage Stayman (2C, then 2H). Partner will normally pass 2 with 3-3.

I think it was probably just fatigue. We've all been there.

If you bid Stayman, followed by 2 (unbalanced inv.), partner will pass with any min, raise s to the appropriate level with a 3+-fit, or bid 2N to find your side suit, so you're “there.”

Not sure how your method is a variant of Smolen, since it doesn't have both majors.

With one partner, I play something similar to what you call “2 tiered transfers.” But they are GF.

I would show an unbalanced invite, by starting with Stayman.

The late Dave Meyers, who was the returning star on the ‘75 team, was part of the lopsided 1975 trade that sent Kareem from MIL to the Lakers - shortly after being drafted #2 overall by the Lakers. One of the worst trades in NBA history.

Meyer’s sister Ann (who married Don Drysdale after her career was over) was an even better player.

But quite a few “friends of Bill W” were on the '75 team.

Providence Friars. The late Marvin Barnes was a helluva talent.

I believe Boris Shapiro refused to play LM. So I think the Reese-Shapiro s signals would not be part of LM. :)

If there's an issue, maybe they could wear mittens. :) :)

But after reading the posts below (maybe should have earlier), maybe it was Jeremy Flint that refused to play it.
