Now that they know I foresee them doing the right thing.

Sometimes doing the right thing should be easy. Go home Poland! You dont belong. Please dont taint bridge anymore. It has nothing to do with your 4 clean players. You did not qualify, have no right to play.

Sweden! Any team that can afford to have Gullberg as tne npc must be the strongest. I also did a lot to teach PG to stand continous abuse. Most recently we blitzed a team with 2 world champions and one member of the open team in Chennai. Memorable hand was I passed 3 when we were cold for 7NT.

She grew by leaps and bounds here. Magic, I wish, maybe she adheres too strictly to the rule of 18!

I promise never to be ironic online again, at least not today … :-D

I suggest the WBF move the first 3 rounds to later. Maybe play with 16 teams. Let Norway fly in and someone else if possible. Shorten the matches in the RR. Just dont start tomorrow.

I played my first match in a European against these guys. Ran the T from T9x opposite Qxx. Lost to Jxx behind. Won the match 22-8 or so. They played with Kwichien-Pzsscola or how they spell.

Never understood their successes. Guess I do now. Good riddance.

The honest teammates can give up the titles, no problem. Right? I am surprised they havent already.

One pair could have been an isolated problem, 2 pairs is damning to the extreme. We will see in a few months. I am not betting on a voluntary resignation of titles. It has to be forced from the WBF. Wait, who is heading the WBF?

Once there is an official verdict on Fantunes I expect the healing and resignation of titles to begin. If not I suggest Italy, Monaco, Israel and Germany to be banned from organized bridge until they do.

As well as in Monaco, Israel, Germany and Italy. I would expect each country to look into not only the specific pair but also how they came together and if others were involved.

Nickell must be favoured to win. Can Steve Weinstein log out from bridgewinners long enough to stay focused?

He writes the country and pair is known by many. An announcement on bridgewinners is expected today or tomorrow (written yesterday)

Welcome Pierre! I beg to differ from your opinion. The gentleman way would be for team Zimmerman to do what team Schwartz and the german team did openly. They gave up all titles won with a corrupt pair.

There is still no official statement from team Zimmerman.

There are a couple of aspects to this. Let me start by saying I understand completely how Peter feels. I also have some understanding for Martel calling the director. Having, probably, been subject to some cheating pairs Martel might deduce this was happening here. He didnt know Peter then. In the heat of the moment we all can feel fooled. The director has to make a decision and the policy then was to judge in favour of the non offending side.

The appeal went to committee and this is where my understanding stops. The AC did not do their job properly. It is basically a gross misunderstanding to say that there was unauthorized information indicating a penalty pass. The procedural penalty for the tray is highly debatable as well. The AC should provide the calming environment to make a rational decision. Starting by branding someone cheater is really not the way to calm things down. Imagine being in your 20s and having these powerful people calling you a cheat!?

Now why did the AC do this? It is impossible not to be affected by “name” players with good reputation and good standing in authorative circles. It is also easier to rule for players playing methods you understand. One thing that presumably mattered is that the Appeals Committe had a high average age. It also consisted mostly of bridge administrators. The Fredin style of play was not so well known then.

Peter and Magnus were undeservedly robbed by a distinguished Appeals Committe. There is unfortunately no way to correct this, only to learn how to avoid this in the future.

Someone had to say that. Banish The cheaters, strike their results and look to a new better bridge world.
