Yes - a date will have to be picked - a detail in set up of this method of payment.

My Social Security doesn't hit my account until the 11th

I also pay many bills directly out of my checking accounts.

My Credit Card bills all seem to be due on the 8th - I do those payments manually on the 20th. I only have 3 credit cards to track.

Richard -
Would you be unhappy paying ACBL dues monthly out of your bank account like you pay other bills?
Or do you still write monthly checks?

Steve:
The whole point is to ELIMINATE an annual collection / committment. Everyone has a different expiration date.

Unless you are agreeing that one full year dues would be a bank deduction. I guess you are just a no.

The monthy deductions would be a “single” transaction on the first of the month.

@Steve

The motion is one sentence. You would vote against that?

The underlying reasoning was included as my own thoughts for discussion -

Commiting to “annualized” spread out of one years dues creates extra work for Staff. Just letting the clock run from day 1 lessens the Staff work.

Of course this is not a “click your heels together to get to Kansas.”

I know there would be a “phase in” conversion time - or maybe not?

Adam - maybe “security” was a poor word choice.

Main thought is I charge a bunch of stuff on my CC’s and use bank bill pay for monthly bills. Membership in this form would be for me a “monthly” bill and easy to see in my bank account. Sometimes I buy a product on a Credit Card and I have signed up for a “subscription” of some sort and don’t notice for a couple months - which is my fault.

Also in the back of my head is how you can sign into ACBL Live - click on home - and look up ANYBODY’s last 100 bridge results from tournaments - matchpoints only so far - not team games or clubs as far as I can tell. I am not sure if there is a Common Game tie in, but the info does “appear” on BBO (afaik) and I know bridge results have appeared on FaceBook.

I have never had an issue with PayPal.

I like just take the money out of my bank account on a monthly basis. Would sign up for 3 year Patron Membership immediately if this method were in place.

Just my opinion.

Yes - My BB1 students are taught that 3 Passes are required to end an auction? Only way I know how to pass is with a Green Card ON the Table.

Happened in Philly - Opp’s bid to 4S - I was last pass and all bid cards were in the Bid Box. I had not placed the third green card on the table.

OPPONENTS called the TD and said I had passed? TD made them put all Bids back out - white against red I bid 5H.

Should have been an auto ZT Penalty imho.

There were a couple messy NABC Appeal Cases re this bad habit.

Also - make your opening lead before you open your scorecard to write down the contract? If declarer plays fast - just leave your card face up on the table? Then put away bid cards. Sure would have helped in the NABC+ FAST PAIRS - I teach both of these concepts in Lesson 2 of AG BB1.

Aren’t many Europeans that are not “pros” expense assisted by their governments? Because of the so-called Olympic affiliation? Thus the COS was used and the EBL decision was invalid? ETC?

That is why I am in favor of the TA system - but only if it is done correctly this time.

Is there a new permanent Caddy Master since we lost Jackie? Imho - Kyle would be highly qualified for that position.

Zia gave me his badge. Immediately when I asked him. He’s been my buddy for many years. Always get his hugs at every NABC.

I figured he would get amother. It was my “fee” for playing his dummy when his pard had to use the facilities. I was kibitizing his opponents :-)

I will be wearing it in D22 at the upcoming D22 Regional in San Diego the 28th to the 31st.

Thanks Zia!

And thanks Boye for your continued efforts. And the many others who have helped.

I am going to file a Player Memo on the drone that hit me in the head during the round of 64 in the Vandy. :-)

Exactly correct Paul -

New Charts say what you CAN do - I understand them well -
Was asked for and had input when I did not understand - I am a very “little guy” in the bridge world -
Have some knowledge as I did NABC Casebooks for 10 years with Rich Colker

Old Charts were all what you COULD NOT do - I still don’t understand the old Charts - am horrible at “reverse” negative thinking from Old Chart to Chart.

which are still in effect until

HAWAII NABC

Randy -

NO CHANGE to CURRENT Alert / Announcement regulations YET!!

Two C&C Sub Committees are in place!

Needed Charts approved first!

Work has been underway and is ongoing between NABC’s to study

1. Convention Card Re-design
2. Alert rules based on New Charts

ACBL will provide info when appropriate.

ONLY THE CHARTS ARE COMPLETE!!

And that took way too long for BOD approval imho.

Have been BOG Oversight to C&C for MANY years.

STOP CARD removal was officially put in place by ACBL Board of Directors

I share RR’s birthday - he was mentioned every year even while I still lived in Canada. Thought I finally escaped this year - but at 11:55 PM at the end of the evening news - RR would have been 107 this year if he was still alive :-)

And earthquakes? Like the one that put my Fullerton house on the front page of the NYT (only under the fold) as I arrived home from the last Dallas NABC? (Spring 2014) Still recovering. Only a 5.1 that normally shakes computer monitor a bit and is over before you realize what happened? Epicenter was right under my house. What a mess. A very big mess. Hotel for 3 months as center wall was replaced. (60’s style split level - 2100 sq ft - at least I have some equity - paid $415K in 99 - worth $1.3MM now. - 22 miles from downtown LA is worth a lot - 50 miles is $750K for same style house) Getting our annual three days of pouring rain 3/21, 22, 23. Proven worse than driving on black ice. My hammock blew into the deep end of the pool (still needs a $25K replaster - just patched those leaks) twice so far this year during Santa Ana’s. Hammock has gone to the trash. More difficult to fish than a giant real fish.

Thought we bought smart - top of hill - very private - no mudslide possible - unlikely to be near a wild fire - horse property - etc

Earthquake insurance is useless (especially if bank has 95% of the equity when home is new) - $2500 per year x 15 years with $$100KK deductible?

But the weather is just so perfect 350+ days per year. Sigh. Even when we hit 90 in the summer it cools to 70 at night. LA and south to San Diego is a desert.
