since X comes a bit delayed I suppose this is for lead..if it were for take-out N would X at the the 1st place.. not later… I assume East should well guard the majors to bid 3NT plus it should hold enough 's to produce the tricks..

Screen recording would be a good measure against all potential cheating attempts…You could even archive them for using against later allegations just like in video shootings..

I support any solution where technology is employed not only for anti-cheating…but also for the comfort of players and the hassle-free management of any tournament… Regarding the devices I recommend to assume it all personal…Just like in skiing or tennis…each player is assumed to bring his own equipment or devices whatever required…

Considering affordable prices each player could have a tablet of his own either on IOS or Android platform… So the only question is to carry out the content services like dealing the hands and collecting the scores for processing the results… I think all could be done in seconds given the current software technologies..

This way all the associated costs will be kept to a minimum which should definitely be a great concern…Thinking of the staff for preparing dealt hands I see many people involved in this particular task… Once technology is in place we may forget about many tasks costing us a lot..

The only drawback is the emotional aspirations for those who want to stick to old traditions, like the touch of a playing card…

I am playing the same style described here as the non-serious 3NT with one difference… When I have a single control in other suits than the trump itself then I bid 3NT to show interest in slam with a relatively weaker hand, when I have more than one control then I bid the suit where I have both the control in the bid suit and the one right below that suit.

Such that my cue-bid shows two controls in one bid when I start cue-bidding. Else, the fast arrival holds to be true for showing no control in the side suits.

Over the following sequence;
1-2
2-3

3NT (slam interest with single control)
4 (- controls)
4 (- controls)
4 (- controls)

Hi Eric,

Concerning your famous serious 3NT, I would like to share my thoughts about how we have adapted it to our system with my partner.

1)We are actually using the basic idea that 3NT is something about slam interest

2)We tend not to show cues especially when there is no more than a single control; sort of showing there is weakness in the unbid suits. Therefore we prefer to play it the non-serious way to hide information. Knowing this if partner is still interested in a likely slam, we continue with the cue-bidding else we declare game and stop.

3)Unlike in your case when there are multiple controls now we start cue-bidding the higher ranked suit to show double cues at a time ( together with the one right below the bid suit)

4)So with the combination of double cue-bids and non-serious 3NT we believe to end up with more powerful tool on the way to slam.

I would really appreciate if you comment on this approach with all the pros and cons…

My best regards from Turkey.

Hi Bob,

Nice to have you here..I wonder what was your worst reaction ever upon your pard's big mistake?

What's your suggestion to build a long-lasting and successful partnership? I would be happy to hear some valuable tips referring to your past experience…

All the best from Turkey..

I believe this is no borderline hand…there are more than enough reasons to open bid 1D…

Thanks for this interesting thread…

I've got a question…How would the bidding proceed once the declarer has selected the last train option? Again with no control-oriented Q-bids?

Sounds really interesting since by using this version you do not necessarily have to disclose useful defense information when slam is not the case…

some limits together with shape may be applied here;

weak version is 8-10 HCP; here any suit preference is for sign-off

strong version is 15-17 HCP ; after the suit preference the bidding might be advanced at 3 level to show shortness and a narrow range of 15-17 HCP for either invitation to 3NT or game in related suits.

Above 18+ HCP T/O x seems to me a better option to start with !
