South deserves 100% on the actual hand and 100% more for the ATB problem. Trying to “imagine it (a jump to 6H on this auction) not fatuous” VERY much a tall order. I would ask in return if it is such a tall order for South just to bid blackwood instead of this ludicrous jump to slam?

Seriously, it is strange that you would post this hand asking if North should bid 7 instead of just apologizing to partner for the 6H bid and moving on.

They wouldn't lead a trump from Qx or Q either? I think you might have missed the sarcasm.

On a side note, it is not at all unreasonable to play that X after that auction shows this hand.

Option 2 would be an excellent choice if I were both trying to lose my partner, and lose at bridge.

Just curious, what on earth makes you think it's appropriate to comment on his weight?

Alternatively, you could choose to show a balanced hand with appropriate strength and open 2NT. This has several advantages in that it:

-Rightsides notrump
-Does not force you to guess whether to show a singleton diamond or suppress AKx in partner's suit on the next round of the bidding
-Actually shows something resembling what you hold

Yes. I misread the pronouns in the post above. My view is that opening 2NT or 1-2NT are reasonable ways to treat the West hand, preferring 2NT. However, we agree about 1-3.

I think that it is probably right to upgrade the West hand but I voted that both players made reasonable decisions because I don't think it's egregious not to.

It seems clear to me that whether you plan on accepting or declining, you should be bidding notrump over 2S. Bypassing 3N on this 3433 makes no sense to me.

If you have agreed that 2M+1 is the only super accept, why on earth would you waste time discussing systemically impossible bids?

Bidding that way with 2344 sounds like an excellent way to practice declaring 4-2 fits.

If my partner understood 6 in this auction as a “further trump ask,” I would be inclined to get a new one.

Your points are quite reasonable, but saying 6S has “no play” with that hand opposite is quite an exaggeration. That, or it doesn't say much for your declarer play.

Bidding 2S on this hand would be a serious candidate for underbid of the year.

Maybe you won't miss anything when your partner can't bid. Unfortunately, my partners do not find the raise with 10x Jxxx xxx 10xxx.

The idea that 4C could be bid on a void in this auction is total nonsense.

Calling 7D excellent seems quite an overbid.

I abstained. You didn't give us the option to duck trick one and you didn't include an option for none of the above.

P.S. What on earth was going on in this auction?

EDIT: Changed to another option. I'd have ducked trick one.
