I like my fun,Ms. Manfield. And surely fora should not be taken too seriously. We're not discussing matters of life and death here. Just chatting about a game.

That would be a good idea, a “snort” button.

“Wow man, I got 1258 snorts for my post ”Does Kim Kardashian play DONT or Cappeletti?“ ”
“Snorters gonna snort. Cool though, 1258”

Seriously, Mr. Reppert, how many visits in a former Warsaw Pact country?
I mean not last month, but in the late 80s, early 90s…

I guess he refers to the friendly interconfessional picnics currently organised by the equally delirious Hamas and Israeli leaders.

Nevermind, I like to be helpful :-)

How about
Money: 95%
Human weakness: 5%

As for propaganda, it is by no means the exclusive trademark of “bad guys”
Remember General Powell and his “vial of mass destruction”?
Puts Mr. Jassem's little essay in perspective, doesn't it?

Seems to be a common combo in Norway. See Simen Agdestein :-)

I'm afraid I don't understand your last sentence. Or more likely I do understand it too well…

Forgive me, Benoit…but your revisited semifinals…“c'est du délire” ;-)

Put it another way.
Let's say the Polish team withdrew, only to discover later that BZ were clean.
How do you assess the damage now?
Poland is a very strong bridge country, the European Championship is a very difficult tournament. You never know when you get another shot at it, though admittedly Kalita and Nowosadski (I don't mention Klukowski who wasn't part of the original team) are likely to get more opportunities.
And there's another aspect we shouldn't neglect…upbringing and environment.
Poland has been a socialist country for 4 decades, and it's very likely the Poles think different on what we pompously call “moral issues”. They're probably tougher and less inclined to compromise and get philosophical than the pampered Westerners we are.

You lucky man.
One of my bridge teammates was runner-up at a French Chess Championship in the 80s.
As for the chess club, I suspect a GM of my generation to be a better bridge player than me, in spite of his lower ranking

Then you never read “Salammbô”…

BTW

English derives from German dialects, imported in the 5th century from Frisia and Sachsen-Anhalt.

The French language does indeed emanate from Latin.

The only things England's received from France in the last 2 millennia that we didn't have already are 500,000 clueless Parisian bankers and lawyers fleeing M.Hollande's socialist revolution, and syphillis

Michel Duguet is the God of francophone Scrabble and played bridge for France in the 2000s I think…

My problem (at both games) is rather being strong enough to realize fully how bad I am :-p

So they played together before Korchnoi fell from grace?
That's a really interesting piece of info, thanks for sharing it :-)
You could have set up an interesting game in Baguio, with the Ks and say…the Penguin and Baturinsky or Zukhar :D

I obviously knew you as a GM but had no idea you were such a strong bridge player. An instructive day indeed!

Perfectly. The Poles were allowed to play and chose to do so.
Period.
