If you are missing four trumps including the queen and next opponent hesitates when you lead the suit, play her for a singleton. She doesn't have a problem so the only reason to hesitate is because she has a singleton.

Or you can i don't know not block the suit in the first place. Does low to the jack allow you to pick up stiff king onside? Is there a point to this?

>why not low club to the jack?

low club to the jack and king. Diamond ruffed. Unblock ace king of hearts. Club to the ace. Now the queen of clubs blocks the suit.

Although not in Florida, I have the same issue of all the old frail people with thousands of masterpoints have to sit north south. Even in this day and age of masterpoint inflation I don't think anyone gets to 2000 mps without having something on the ball. In theory someone can get 50 points a year for fourty years but in practice I don't think people play horrible bridge multiple times a week for a lifetime.

Reverse exclusion blackwood. How many aces do you need me to have to bid the grand?

Play for 3-2 hearts and 3-2 clubs. ruff a diamond. Run the queen of clubs. Say it loses and back comes a diamond. Ruff. Unblock the trump. Club to your hand. Draw the last trump. Claim.

Interesting your fantasy hand is going down one. If you cash your clubs first LHO has to unguard something but I'm not sure that's the best single dummy play.

Keep the defense on defense. Play passively.

I was defending three spades doubled with 20 high card points. I led one suit after another and she doesn't have anything in any of them. Finally I need her to have Q or we are not beating this. I underlead KJx and she plays the 10. Oh shit. No wait. She has the queen. She just played the ten.

Maybe she is taking lessons from Zia (not). It's playable as a partnership agreement but she thinks this is standard american.

Just because I don't comment on how terrible the defense/declarer play is doesn't mean I don't notice.

Inverted majors. Someone told partner that a SA strong 2C bid is forcing to 3 of a major. So with eleven tricks in my hand 6-5 in the majors. I open 2C. 2D by partner waiting. 3S by me. She passes. But if I had rebid 2S, it is forcing.

When RHO makes a bid that is contrary to their written agreements and partners explanation. You call the director. RHO says “I psyched” which is an automatic get out of jail free card. No penalty. You don't have to like the law but that is the law.

Edit RHO says “I forgot our agreement” which amounts to the same thing except you can't ban forgetting your agreement.

Can be? But isn't. They don't have to play whatever they scribbled on their card. They can bid whatever the hell they want.

Convention cards are not canonical. (Long shaggy dog story omitted). Opponents can scribble anything they want on their card without penalty. The presence of two different cards with two different systems should suggest at least one of them is wrong.

So we have two hearts natural. No alert. No ask. The opponents committed no infraction and the result at the table stands.

Partner was afraid to leave you on lead at trick 13. You'll lead the wrong card.

Having taught a bit of I/N bridge I believe the play goes diamond lead ruffed. Spade to your ace. Diamond ruffed. Club to your ace. Oops ruffed by defender. Heart by defender sticking you on the board.

Not that anyone on this board needs to be told but when you have a long suit, ruffing in either hand is a trap. Draw trump and set up the long suit not necessarily in that order.

Was two diamonds announced as a transfer and the partnership method is that two diamonds is a transfer? Was two diamonds not announced and the partnership methods is two diamonds is natural? In either case there is no cause to alter the score.

I have that book (and everything else Lawrence has published which is extensive). The people in 6nt lead towards KQx and RHO ducks smoothly. Now they get to hand and repeat the marked finesse and the defense runs the whole heart suit. Mike gets a top board for being down one in 7NT.

Edit: Dug out my copy and blew off the cobwebs. Declarer has 10 tricks outside the heart suit and Mike gets 10.5 matchpoints on a 12 top.

In the middle of play so everybody can see them the dummy has AKQxxxx and no other cards and declarer is void in hearts. Partner led a heart.
