Right, tiny Denmark, without including Faroe Islands and Greenland, has 1,419 islands over 100 square metres, 78 of which are inhabited. Mike, I agree with Buddy, let's donate Hans Ø to charity, San Marino or Andorra. They are rock bottom at all international championships anyway, regardless of sport, and Hans Ø is a rock.

Hans Ø in Danish. It's Danish because it's located 10.3 miles from Greenland, 11.7 miles from Canada.

By the way, the Danish seagulls on Hans Ø play bridge. Don't you all play the Seagull convention? It's also known as the double ace asking convention. 4 = how many aces do you have? 4 = 1. 4NT = are you sure, count again.

Yes, but I can live with it if my comment is flagged and removed :)

I don't think many want to be in 6; it needs too much. I agree with Michael although he claims that Hans Island doesn't belong to Denmark. No big deal anyway. As far as I know it's only inhabited by seagulls.

If my memory serves me correctly, some time ago you made a list of suggestions for improvements of the software, features that would enhance the value of commentating and kibitzing, but I can't remember what happened after that.

“Actually… BBO have the resources to determine who is watching a segment, and what the ”average“ ability of those watching are. Something for BBO to add… (if not already there).”

Nicolas, you need to re-read “DON'T” number 8. Sadly, many other than commentators treat their profiles as a joke. You don't get a true picture of the ability by looking at profiles because people decide which skill level they have.

92% of BBO members are Experts according to themselves and the other 63% write Private. Oh, and I forgot the 27% who have Novice in their profiles when they are actually Advanced or Experts.

I thought that was an Irish slam, but that may be even more sophisticated.

Giles, which of the following six phrases do you prefer as a spectator? Please rate them in order of preference. You are welcome to add some.

1. “Justin Hackett must have forgotten that Jason Hackett led 6.”
2. “Hackett must have forgotten that Hackett led 6.”
3. “J. Hackett must have forgotten that J. Hackett led 6.”
4. “Justin must have forgotten that Jason led 6.”
5. “Justin must have forgotten that his brother led 6.”
6. “East must have forgotten that West led 6.”

It is also a problem when J. Hackett plays with J. Hackett. The best solution in my view is to insert Ju Hackett and Ja Hackett. The software doesn't accept more than 10 characters and a space counts as 1.

When commentating I think it's just fine to write and say Justin and Jason without including the surname. That's one of the reasons I wrote “to a certain extent” when I replied to Giles' comment.

I agree with you to a certain extent, but I don't think you want us to say or write Mahmood. No one knows Mahmood whereas everyone knows Zia. That's why the operators always insert Zia – unless he plays in EBL or WBF events.

They only use surnames and they are displayed automatically. The operator can't do anything.

So I think Zia should be the exception to a non-existent rule.

I think it is because he is on voice when he is there. And you don't listen, right?

Could it be Paul Barden, aardv on BBO? Thanks for naming me, Timo, but I would have preferred that you had included Larry Cohen.

One doesn't have to be an Einstein to read between the lines that you are unhappy as to how the team was selected for the European Championships. On the other hand, I knew that already although I didn't read all 10,387 comments back then.

While we are at it I am happy to announce that Larry will be doing some sessions from Orlando next month. As we don't have the BBO schedule yet, he doesn't know when.

It's a pity that Larry doesn't commentate more than he does. I wish we could get him for every session in major events, but I also understand his reasoning for not being there often.

The positive feedback I get when Larry is on air is enormous. I haven't heard of anyone who doesn't enjoy his (voice) commentary.

I agree with you and I think your points are covered in “DO” number 6. The document is very comprehensive, so I chose to write a little less than I would otherwise do. I think people get the gist by reading those lines.

I'm old enough to remember Buddy Holly and The Crickets. “That'll be the Day”.

I think you would get away with “barking mad” but I doubt that you would with “roaring drunk”. In fact, I know you would not because people have been blocked for less.

True, but you can be denied access to commentate if you repeatedly violate BBO's rules of appropriate behaviour. I know that Aurora and Diana Eva have blacklisted some.

Point taken, Ercan. I don't think “a junior bid” is rude or offensive in any way, but I respect people who interpret it differently. Please also read my reply to Randy Thompson.
