The innuendo in the question by JKW is appalling. I really cannot understand these nasty comments.

Melanie, it would help if you could tell us what your partner had for her 4NT bid. For most posaters here, I would suspect it shows a big unspecified 2 suited hand, where x would be for takeout. What did your partner have?

So it was a psyche? Psyches are allowed in the rules of Bridge.

Of course HUMS should be allowed in teams matches; I can understand, (but don't agree with), the being restricted in pairs events.
They are fun to play and fun to play against. Anyone who has thought about bidding theory or who has ever played a HUM system will have Meta defences against them. Be aware that the opposition to them comes primarily from pros who are trying to protect their sponsors - note Richard's reference to Meckstroth above.

This looks like a pass or, if aggressive, a 2NT overcall to me as well. It does not look like a 3H bid by any stretch of the imagination.
By the way, why is making a lead directing bid which is designed to stop you bidding a slam “not bridge”? If I were 40 imps behind in the last set, I also would try some swinging. I agree with you about the kibbitzer issue, though.

Quite right Dave. A number of my staff have come down with Dengue. It is a pretty awful disease.

So Sher is on it again! He obviously has no respect for Migry either.
“ They calso, (sic), promised other things, in particular the name of a security contact.” Did they? My reading of the issue was that a contact was unavailable, so from where do you get this?

I am not sure what your first language or not. What I said was that Migry was not denied a visa as the title suggested, and this in fact is the case!

“Her version of history is also one that no serious scholar disbelieves.”
Many do.

Bobby, everyone makes mistakes and says something stupid sometimes. Be a man and admit that what you wrote was way out of line. People will think far better of you. The attempts to justify your comments do you no good at all and make people lose even more respect for you. JKW's also does you no favours with her posts, but makes you both look bad.

My point is that these Transnational players, (and I guess Migry as well), are quite happy to go without extra security. You could just as easily argue that the MSC are to blame for their overreactions. Anyway, I guess we have to agree to disagree.

We differ on the interpretation of forced. In my opinion, Israel could still have taken part. Are there not players on Israeli nationality playing in the Transnationals?

Yehudit, would you also agree that the facts of the situation are that you and others lied by saying Israel was “forced” to withdraw? After all, the decision to withdraw wa their.
Would you also agree that some used bully boy tactics of the lowest order - Hanan Sher's implied threats to Dave Thomson? Would you also agree that some posts were blatantly racist?

I agree Avon. I live in Lao and the same applies. I have already posted this, but those with biases do not want to accept this is the case.

Since this was a comment directed at me - yes, there was a question mark in the thread title. but the wording was deliberately provocative.

That won't happen Jonathan. Some of these people are still attempting to justify their comments rather than apologise. I agree, the defaming of Roy Welland was an appalling action. Yehudit's title was a deliberate and blatant misrepresentation of the truth and was clearly designed to inflame opinion. I find this attitude very sad.

Yes Barry, I agree. There have been lies, misrepresentations and a general feeling that one nation is deserving of special treatment above all others. Many proponents of that side of the argument have acted disgracefully and in some cases in a racist manner.

“This proves that “Israel withdrew” is false.”
Again Roland is not telling the truth. Was Israel asked to withdraw? No! They withdrew.
Why on earth should Indonesia reveal its details for security for the venue to anyone?
