MPs are bullshit. If you‘re old enough and have a nine to five job you can‘t avoid becoming an „i don‘t know what“ master. If you older still and senile you keep your MPs to play in top events. How crazy is this. I for my part am not paying money to the DBV to get some of those silly points. Luckily in Germany it isn‘t relevant for playing in tournaments.

This weekend at MP:
1-(2N)-3-(4)
P-(P)-4-(5)
5-(P)-6-(7)
X-AP going for -1100 against our nv slam which doesn‘t even make.
I had been thinking about making a slam try after 4 and decided that parts 5 tipped the scale.

Michael, „don’t argue with success“ is not the road to better bridge. This weekend we had a top when I made 3 after pards reopening double where it should be -2 for a round zero. I commented that he shouldn’t reopen and were lucky to get such a bad defense.

Abstain, bridge has me again. Must be careful not to overdo it, don‘t want to lose my wife over it.

Preempts work but W should take some of the blame. Mostly W sounds a bit unfair in my ears.

We open almost all 10hcp hands with a decent 5crd M. Max for 1M is 18 points. Responder passes if working points (not hcp) plus number of Ms less then 8. BTW I hate expressing strength merely with hcp.

„It's all relative.“ …and even that is relative.

Our rule is „if we have an inv+ sequence AND there was no opportunity to deny the invitation we have a forcing pass situation“

„In 3rd and 4th seat, ALL hands were opened“. Peter there was no opening bid in 3rd/4th, that was a response to pards opening bid

What is 5N and how will it help to find out if we have 13 tricks? I can count 10 sure tricks. A 4th could be #11 as could K of Q. Even 6-Level is not sure despite the hcp. 6 rates to have more possibilities then 6N, which I Don‘t condemn. 7 is to much Even if it makes opposite a perfect 1N.

Okay, so you‘ve got a double -stop, that don‘t impress me much. It’s only 2 from 9 necessary tricks.

I‘m surprised about the clear majority for 4. OTOH the „Well, do you?“ may have biased the voting. If this is a UI-issue 26% for pass is enough even without the bias.

I would never expect 6 being anything else but to play unless I have an agreement to the contrary. In Stefan‘s example we do have an agreement: bid 7 if you have the 13th trick.

As for the question in the title: 1 12, 1 9, 1M 9, 1N 5 (all including competitive bidding).

How can reverses be off? A reverse is bidding suits in reverse order, i.e. the lower suit first then the higher suit. If this shows extras or not is a matter of partnership agreement. I prefer extras, but not necessarily a monster. BTW what is commonly called a „high reverse“ is not a reverse at all.
