Sorry did not see this earlier.

4D should definitely be diamonds.
5NT should be pick a slam.
North would usually be looking to get back to clubs (South may have 4D and 3C).
Rebidding diamonds on four low feels wrong .
A lot depends on giving partner some hands, which in turn depends on whether or not 3S promised 4H.

That might go against the Olympic sprit.

The WBF President said words to the effect - Per other Olympic sports, only the titles won post the date when the athlete was proven to be cheating can be stripped. We have followed this in bridge. So all the pre-2014 results are retained as valid.

What a sham.

Tony and I played new suit forcing, with a natural base.
We played the comp auctions you describe as NF. Only way to play, IMO.

Great post. We had a case in our trials when the director was called about a mechanical error. The recollections of both sides (at the table) were totally different from what the videos show.

Human memory is fickle, and not always for any malicious reasons.

I disagree, Kate.
Correcting to 6H is normal.
Hard to believe that there is a hand where 6D is better than 6H, from South's POV, even if you factor in hands where North is acting “solo”.

If North wanted to be truly ethical, he could have planned the auction over 3S and at least made the rest of his (non 4C) bids in tempo. This might help give the impression that his tank was “planning the auction” rather than “I have a problem over here.”

If the bids were in tempo by North, I doubt if South would pass.
Seems like a normal score adjustment to me.

Adjust the score to -490, give EW a procedural penalty and give South a smack on the head !

I was sympathetic to rehabilitation of cheaters. I think you present a persuasive case.
Being banned from playing bridge is not like spending your life in jail.

There needs to be a strong deterrent.

Hi Kit, It is impressive how you manage to be such a prolific publisher. I was busy congratulating myself on quickly spotting running the D9, but your analysis shows how it is actually a mistake (at least on paper). 6=2=3=2 East and the D are 3-3 and 7=2=2=2 you make on the other line you demonstrate.
Great hand and thanks again for continuing to generate such fantastic material !

A very logical proposal. Urge the authorities to take action.
