I prefer to play 3 as either a singleton or to weak to bid 4 with a void. That is why I bid 4 as a very strong hand with a void!

Difficult to see how we can beat this if partner doesnt have only 5 diamonds and a singleton spade

I also would have bid 3 before. It looks like partner needs akqxxx in clubs and another trick in order to make 3nt. If that card is diamond ace. I would rather be in 6 which might even make when 3nt goes down!

Why complicate things? You know you have a clubfit. Just bid 6

Exactrly what I thought. This way you get all 13 tricks on a double squeeze :-)

In our system 2 would have been a weak hand with spades asking partner to pass with a balanced 20-21

The 7 bid makes sence if opener expects his partner to have a spade control after bidding 4nt over 3 which in my oppinion is reasonable

I dont think partner should have bid 5 with that hand!

No - you did not. You could be 6-4 or 7-4 in . And you could also have more than a minimum

Of course it could be bad to bid here. But we might also get them to 5 for 1 off Partner might have as little as:

xxx, x, AKxxx, Qxxx

Yes of course Richard is right. 3 is not forcing to game. Still I do not think this hand is good enough to force to game. If partner passes I expect us not to have a game.

I dont agree about 3 not being forcing. In my opinion 3 makes this a GF. Therefore I think 3 is actually forcing. And if my partner passes this, then we probably dont have a game :)

Partner might have: x-QJTx, KQJxxxxx and pass 5. I am not saying it will happen, just that it could happen

Some say that if 3 is going down then 3nt makes. I do not agree with that at all. I would guess that 3nt goes down at least 80 % of the time. And if one feels aggressive then passing the double would probably be the best way to do it!

I would have bid 4nt the first round. Then we would not have had this problem!

Looks like many people play this double as invitational. I prefer to play it as invitational only when the bidding implyes they have a fit.

Playing 3 as diamond support here. 4d shows double fit and other bids than 3nt show heart support.
