3N may not make with only one club opposite partner's suit but I'm still bidding it.

I don't have to bid like a junior just because my partner is one.

Not sure why this is a problem, am I missing something?

Would be better if I had spades, but I still open. I don't like passing with AK A.

If the Q was in one of my long suits I would open.

I think the case is to see if there are any votes for 2, which could easily be right if partner has a stiff spade.

Certainly opener should be pulling to 3 here if he is short in spades. I pass now, but am prepared to call the director if opener has done something naughty, like failing to raise spades if he forgot mini-Roman and has spade support.

If understood as such, 4 as a slam try with heart shortness would have been a better call at my second turn.

4 QTs, spade support, and a ruffing value. This is a clear acceptance.

I need a much better suit and/or hand than this to make a 3-level overcall unfavorable at imps.

Shouldn't this be a lead problem?

Nobody vul, decent spot cards, and we have spades. Clear opener.

Pass now, but I wouldn't be in this position because I would have opened 3; good suit and no defense.

P. They are in my best suit and partner couldn't act, so I doubt we're missing a game.

Would have bid 3 last time. Now I pretty much have to bid 4 this turn.

If partner can't make a move over 2 we're probably not missing a game. The high cards are nice but the shape is a downgrade.

Why didn't I start with X? I have plenty of defense if partner decides to pass with 5 decent spades and out.

2, though this is very close. 2+2 may well be a good matchpoint score anyway, but 4-1 is likely to be a poor result.

3. Sure, the diamond holding is nice, but everything else about this hand is terrible. Poor spades, poor shape, a good chance the club king is opposite shortness.

I think you've misread the opening bid…
