I'm not sure that bidding a slam that requires an 8-0 break qualifies as good judgement.

Without having seen Michael’s infinitely more fun line, I will be taking the spade hook to pitch a heart and ruffing one club in dummy - hoping for either a 3-2 D break or Qxx of clubs (or both :)

South is a very good player, but is pretty straightlaced. Of the two, north is more likely to psych. But you can trust your pd’s takeout double. With a balance 17-19 he will pass.

Pd has invited to double for penalty.
If you're looking for better than a KJT8x stack, you may be waiting for a long time.

That said - I'm not sure West has the double of 2N so…

Either you open 3C or you pass throughout. Bidding on this when the opps haven't found a fit is… anti-percentage

By open - I assume you mean a one-level bid (which to me this doesn't qualify - even if it's a six-loser hand)
But pass also didn't really occur to me - the only question was how many diamonds

Well, yes - that's a 4-loser hand - easily within reverse strength

I disagree with John Adams 100% politically, and I, too, could not resist voting for other in this poll.

That's completely a question of agreement. We've decided our auctions are easier if we bid our 4-cd majors right away. 2 is a minor suit oriented invitational hand while 2 is minor suit oriented game force

I know someone who did something wrong on this hand - but it wasn't at your table :)

JS got covered. Michael won and crossed to the AH to take the finesse again
Losing both a diamond and a trump was suboptimal in 6S

As others have said, using 2S as size ask or clubs and 2N as diamonds or weak mm is relatively common here
