Note- I was just bidding my hand. In most games, I'd be asking RHO if they wanted an undo. This is a clear misclick situation.

I love playing 3-3 fits in 2M (usually spades)
My favorite is when I get heart ruffs in both hands.

In fourth chair, the pass is already on the table. In any other seat I'm opening 1D or 3D

You're right - I forgot to specify MPs and whether to consider the possible overtrick. (I know I didn't find the winning play at the table :)

I believe it was third from even, low from odd.

I understand. But in the modern “lead your short major” passive lead world, opening 1NT with hands like this occasionally leads to good results. I think I read a bulletin article which called 1NT the new Flannery. Game Theory would probably say it's right to open this 1N around 33% of the time.

North could have opened a NT
South could have made another try
Neither is a crime

I'd be mighty surprised if there's 10% in those hills between +100 and +200

Feels very much like a psychological ploy by west than anything else- aka give declarer a losing option.

You’re telling me they’re not using load balancers to direct different services to different servers?

I think you need the 6 for that

This sequence i agree with the majority that it’s nf.

If the second suit were hearts instead of diamonds, we play a cute gadget where 3H and 3S show natural nf 5-5 4-6 respectively while 3C puppets to a 3D relay and now 3H 3S are the same shape but forcing. 3N after the relay would show a gf club fragment.

I’m with Henry. I saw a 1 opener and thought we were in a gf reverse sequence

All of your points are in pd's suits. I can't see not bidding at least 4H here.

Tougher question if the majors are reversed

Jim, they had both majors and didn’t make a neg X over 1D (2C). Thinking they were playing inv m and not just straight novices is funny :)

Do you think they had a hidden agreement? It's hard to prove when RHO passed his pd's 2 call

Especially when LHO actually had diamonds…

Is it imps or is it matchpoints? It really feels like the heart lead has a better chance to beat it while the passive diamond lead is the safer mp alternative

As much as I love this logic - haven't you ever keycarded with a void to keep the defense on its toes?

Exactly - in my precision, this is an auto 11-13 1N opener
