Phil - Am I reading this wrong? Didn't pd open 1D first seat Red on White?

I think there should be a title allowed
Every comment I see on my right bar is “such and such responded to bidding question”

For what it's worth, I had her bid 5N and explained it as “Grand Slam Force” making North bid 7N with a max, 6N with a min or 6 of a 5-card suit.

Do you play this is as 4/5 in the minors too? I would consider faking this…

Just click on the bid you actually want to make. It will “unvote” your previous vote and add you to the correct tally

So my question is if you play for a 5-2 spade break if you get a heart lead? And if you do - do you get back to your hand with the second round of clubs (presumably finessing the first time)

Bob - I'm not just pre-balancing against diamonds though. 1N shows at least 7 cards in the minors. So I'd be pre-balancing against clubs and diamonds.

Knock 'em dead Adam. Enjoy the trip. Shanghai is a sweet city. Try and get to the Shanghai museum. Some people fly there just to visit it.

Martin - You can be a resident of one country - even a citizen - without giving up your US Passport. Dual citizenship is common.

I dunno. If I were a bridge player in Monaco, I would feel cheated. Chances to represent my country just went down to zero.

I think the accident referred to was the 1NXX hand which could have gone for 1000 (vul) but instead made for 760. I believe the other table was in 1N the other way, undoubled (120?).

My understanding would be this:
First priority: Raise spades (2S with 3, 3S with 4+ - depending on vulnerability in tendencies aka how often do you double with only 4 spades)
Second priority would be to find pd's other suit - all bids are pass or correct, so 2C is the catch-all bid.
2D to me says: I can play clubs at the 3-level;
2H to me says: I can play clubs or diamonds at the three-level

This is an interesting case. I never like jumps to show values when I have cuebids (or new suits forcing) available. My general bidding style says jumps are pre-emptive, unless it's a case of
“this is the game/slam” we want to play.

But I do believe undiscussed this would be invitational

I'm would consider 4D with the North hand. It's close and depends on your bidding style. I mean pd could be Jxxx xx KJxx xxx and game could be awful, but most 1S calls rate to make game and slam could be in the picture with something as reasonable as Kxxxxx xx Axx Qx
