Exactly. My partner and I have bid +so+ many hands where we've forgotten our agreements. They almost always end in hopeless slams.

It's in orange (which means alert) and if you hover the mouse over the call, it shows it as a three card spade raise. (very standard in much of the States).
I take this call as jamming, because there are two suits to cue-bid available if I want to make a stronger call.

I find the higher the contract, the worse KQx is as a lead.
As a matter of fact, I hate the lead. AKx, I'm sold. QJx I'm sold. JTx, count me in. But KQx <shudder>

In real life, by agreement, I agree with John.
But in Standard, wouldn't this be a penalty double of Diamonds?

John - hard to say as they were playing with screens and we were on BBO. It was Rodwell who made the pass. It didn't _seem_ particularly out of tempo.

My pd and I have long ago concluded that the answer to “What does 1Spade mean?” when 1Spade is unalerted is “Why? Do _you_ have spades?”

Yes - I understand and would if it were a major (like Kit says) but 2C takes up a lot of room and pd's suit is almost undoubtedly spades given the lack of opp bidding and your shortness. You'll be able to catch up later…

My pd and I have an agreement. It's always Bill's fault. That way if we ever have a disagreement, we don't have to try to find blame with each other or ourselves. Just blame Bill

Among how many novices have you discussed minor suit stayman. But this could be a good learning hand.

I'd be going back and forth between 3S, 2C and X on the initial call, leaning towards 3S

Gavin - isn't this an argument for switching to the 9D when you're looking at the KD in your hand :)

Phil - Am I reading this wrong? Didn't pd open 1D first seat Red on White?

I think there should be a title allowed
Every comment I see on my right bar is “such and such responded to bidding question”

For what it's worth, I had her bid 5N and explained it as “Grand Slam Force” making North bid 7N with a max, 6N with a min or 6 of a 5-card suit.

Do you play this is as 4/5 in the minors too? I would consider faking this…

Just click on the bid you actually want to make. It will “unvote” your previous vote and add you to the correct tally
