As we play 5 is a Q ask. I agree your method is better. Our agreement is still that 5♠ is “Q ask if you have 3”. It is a bit simplistic.

I agree that is better. Our agreement is that 5 is in fact is “Q ask if you have 3”. It is a bit simplistic.

I bid 6 to deny the Q.

I play 2 as forcing but can be minimum. 3 would be game forcing with a five card suit.

I think I would rather play in our diamond fit than in 2NT. I don’t know what the BIT suggests. Maybe partner was chosing between pass and 2NT.

I like 1-3NT (about 10-12, any SPL) with a, 1-4 (about 13-15) with b, and 2NT with c.

If not playing split range, I would splinter only with a.

I think that if the mean and the geometic mean differs greatly, be very careful about using statistics to say anything about the strength of the field.

If my shape is a takeout of hearts, I would double directly with around 18, otherwise pass first.

Dbl as 13-15 balanced or a strong hand. Others natural.

I guess not standard, but I play it as a transfer to 3Nt.

I play it as 8-10 balanced, honors in every suit, no aces.

I am not sure I understand the difference between “slip of the tongue” and “loss of concentration”.

I don't think declarer showed four hearts. I think 3 denied a five card major and that 3NT denied four spades.

Exactly 4-4 for me in most partnerships. With one partner we play 3 as puppet to 3 here, in with case 3 would be a slamtry with 5-5.

Why should it? In bridge as we know it you are not told beforehand that you have the strongest hand at the table.

Those who play 4M as a picture bid, would you say that 4 denies control in just clubs or in both clubs and hearts in the sequence 1-2; 2-4?

I play:

2M = shape ask (does not deny 4cM)
3M = cue ask (does not deny 4cM)
4M = 4M-5m, good suits, no side suit control
jump in new suit = 4M and good 5m, short in bid suit

If you had played the husband and the wife in final hand and they would have lost the tournament because the queen actually did drop, could they have made the same argument? If not, it feels a bit strange that they can make it now.

Tommy Larsson created a system based called Aubyruter which was based on Magic Diamond and Carrotti. It included 1 = 8-11 BAL. The system (in Swedish) in on Syskon:

http://syskon.nu/system/002_aubyruter_01.pdf

The follow ups to 1 are:

1 = 4+ or any strong hand which does not have spades as the longest suit
1 = 4+, forcing
2NT = NAT INV
others = to play

After I preempted, I played 5Dx= for 750 when our opponents were cold for 6H. We lost 24 imps on the board.
