I don't think the defenders were aware that declarer's last card was high.

Non-members and members who are not paid up pay higher entry fees at tournaments so it doesn't seem to be about ‘freeloading’.

I played it for ten years because my partner wanted to. I always made sure the opps understood SP was upside down but they would often forget. In some cases after they'd misplayed a hand because of it, they'd say they thought we were kidding.

Other than confusion, I never saw any advantage and I stopped playing it ten years ago.

2 was a reverse and opener didn't think 3 was FSF, they thought it natural. N was the only one at the table who thought 3 was FSF.

After opening 1NT and seeing my robot opponent show spades and a minor with 4-0-0-9, nothing they do can surprise me.

Can anyone see a realistic way to get to 6 after 1 - 2 ?

Originally with the Montreal Relay 1 - 1M showed a suit where you'd be willing to accept a three card raise as opposed to guaranteeing a 5 card suit.

Sometimes it requires an alert and sometimes an announcement depending on what the rest of the hand's distribution could be and whether it is forcing or not.

It's an interesting idea but it doesn't address the inherent unfairness of determining your strat before the results are in.

In a multi-session event, you'd have to reconfigure the stratifications after session awards are given out.

I held AKJ,AKxx,KQJx,QJ and heard partner open 1S and rebid 2H.

Finding partner with 1KC I bid 6H and got the “don't bid Blackwood with 2 quick losers” lecture when partner held QTxxx,QJxx,Ax,xx.

No Gary, I never played with him again. :-)
