This weird auction happened at the club earlier this week. We were sitting N/S. The complete deal was:
2♣ artificial, (game?) forcing. Other calls natural. 6♠ makes, yielding a 0% matchpoint score since the slam wasn't found at any other table.
I polled two of our partnership's decisions earlier. The initial overcall of South was polled here (62% agree with 2♥), and North's advance was polled here (13% agree with 4♥, many want to show the diamond suit and/or jump to the 5 level).
What is your opinion of this auction in total? Is 2♣ by East a psyche or just odd? (Assume they use "standard" bidding, where 2♣ is the only forcing opening bid). Should we have called the director after West raised to 6♠ while quipping "my hand grew with the 5♠ bid"?
