What should the selectors do?
In how many sports is England Manager / Head Coach / Chairman of Selectors anything other than a poisoned chalice? By the way, that is not to say that I agree or disagree with having one.
2018 European Championships Results
I accept that I overstated the number of professionals. What is more significant is the gap between the top quarter of the field and the bottom quarter, and the discouraging effect that can have. I think Tom's point is very valid. With two divisions, more teams would have something ...

Trivia - thanks to Barry for the idea
Yes. Thanks for the fun, Richard. The library in Dumfries is called the Ewart, but sadly there is no connection.
Trivia - thanks to Barry for the idea
As someone from Dumfries, I am very intrigued. I think I know the answer but will not spoil the fun for others (or show my ignorance)!
