about me

Used to play a lot in the seventies. Retired to raise a family. Never lost love for game though. Now play on BBO and at two NABCs a year (spring and summer). Have a very solid partnership with my longtime partner, Randy Thompson. Place in NABC events often. Goal of winning one finally fulfilled -- won the 2013 Bruce LMs in Atlanta.

Bridge Information

Favorite Bridge Memory
Against Ron Anderson and Kathy Wei, as a young new player, partner opened a vul against nv weak NT and with 3 count 3334 I transferred to hearts; we went -400 against their 430 when neither opp with 12/13 hcp balanced could find a bid.
Bridge Accomplishments
Won 2013 Bruce LIfe Masters in Atlanta; 9th in NABC Imp Pairs in Toronto; 25th in World Imp Pairs in Philadelphia; numerous other NABC overalls.

Is it time for 1 & 7 PM NABC start times (the critical 30 minutes earlier start)
12:30 and 7:00 anyone? Waiting around for the start of the first session is what I find undesirable. A slightly earlier evening session would be preferable IF restaurants in the area are prepared to handle the early diners.

ACBL Tests Online NABC Event
Ah, yes. I forgot that. I retract my comment about "simple" cheating, and I am far less concerned about the other silly forms such as sitting with experts, calculators, distribution probability charts, etc. I can't imagine many making that effort, and if they have to, you are right that ...
ACBL Tests Online NABC Event
Maybe already mentioned above (who can read this whole thread?), but isn't the following simple cheating a very big issue in this "NABC" event. All one has to do is sit in a room with someone else and let one player play the hand first. After seeing all four ...
Meaning of 1M (2M) 4m?
We play fit showing jumps (whether passed hand or not) unless an opponent has clearly shown the suit (here we don't know opponent's minor). We also avoid confusion by playing fit showing jumps only through 4D. We added that after getting knocked out late in the mini spingold ...
TV series "Fargo"
And this. " For research, the actors attended a bridge tournament in Calgary, Alberta, and actual players were used as extras in the bridge-playing scenes." Who can name the extras?!!
TV series "Fargo"
‘Fargo’ Season 3: Can You Really Make Six Figures Playing Bridge? "All that suggests a bit of where “Fargo” Season 3 might be headed for Ray and Nikki. They’re already embroiled in some dastardly doings by the end of the premiere, but the pair ...
TV series "Fargo"
SPOILER ALERT: Maybe to appreciate it you have to be a devoted fan of Fargo and its somewhat sick but brilliant humor, which I happen to be, but the first episode had me in stitches. I loved the scene of the femme fatale begging her parole officer to let her ...

Anyone have any solid information on the lack of any water in many (all?) rooms at the Sheraton this morning. All I got from guest services was they are working on it.
High Level Reverses
Since 2D is forcing and what you easily can bid with any hand with diamonds, we play the unnecessary jump as a splinter in support of clubs.
