I subscribe to the same style. I routinely open good four card majors in 3rd/4th, and the main criterion for me is whether the suit is a good lead director.

I have sympathy for the fact that a lot of pairs won't have methods to get to the best minor suit fit on an auction like this. That said, south's double is absolutely standard balancing action at matchpoints, and I cannot assess any blame for the double. Passing ...
