Ok. A stupid question on a Wednesday evening.
Derrick, I think the player in question was Sam Needham, a Sydney player from the early 80s who now lives in the US I think. Pretty sure his partner was David B. I think they were playing against Marston/Burgess, with Paul the declarer.
Tanking to get a read
What possibilities have been eliminated when LHO plays small, as they invariably do in 98% of cases?
Tanking to get a read
True, there is no "rule" that says you have to do all your thinking before playing a card but there should be. Why play the card and then think? The only reason I can think of is that declarer is trying to get a read on LHO and I don ...
Tanking to get a read
It's cheating, not just "inappropriate". I ask people why they lead from the closed hand towards a KJ holding and after LHO has followed small (surprise, surprise) they tank. They have no valid answer. It's simply outrageous that this sort of unethical behaviour is allowed at any level ...
Watching Videos of F-N from Opatija

Violations of Procedure The following are examples of violations of procedure: 5. looking intently at any other player ...

I didn't know you were allowed to read a book as dummy!
Tales from the Attic: Punch-Counter Punch.
I'm not so sure I'd be leading a club on this hand. Partner will have very little and I don't want to give declarer an easy trick. Red suit lead stands out for me. But I do like the winning spade king play.
Definition of a penalty double
I don't think you should have to explain what a penalty double is. It simply means that I don't think you're going to make your contract. Hasn't it always meant that?
So Cool ... And Kind of Mean
I'm impressed that your kids can hold 13 cards in their hands. I was raised on 500 where of course you only have to cope with 10 cards. Making the move up to 13 was just one of the many challenges in taking the next step.
