about me

Learned to play in my neighborhood group of moms with baby's, loved it from the start. Got into duplicate when I moved to Tokyo, loved that even more. Continued playing in Tokyo and Singapore, but never in competitions until we moved back to US in 2005, where I learned how bad I really was. We moved to St. Petersburg, FL. After a year of playing with anyone the director of the nearest club would find me, found a great partner. We went to NAP's and GNT's for the state in the C category and made LM together.  Had to break up partnership, because his wife didn't like hem playing with a woman and have finally found another partner and great mentors.

Gameforcing or Forcing for one Round
you can play it however you want. The problem is with a non-2/1 system I would rather play it game forcing. So I would bid my 4 card spades first
ACBLscore"+" - a short history
As a MAC person, I just wish Score was multi-platform, I understand that Ruby is web-based and would be and C# and C++ would work, as well. I just wish they would get something out there less clumsy then the current iteration.
In The Well: Jay Whipple
So true and the players who are very serious often scare away those who want a more social experience
In The Well: Jay Whipple
Jay Thanks for all you do. I agree with above comment. There is a steep learning curve in any job. One year seems like hardly enough time for anything to be accomplished.
BW 2/1: What is 2/1?
For the most part 1-2 GF is what is widely taught and played in the US (see the Rodwell/Grant book)all systems evolve over time, so there is the style where 2 isn't forcing too game over a diamond. AND to add to that preferences ...
BW 2/1: What is 2/1?
2/1 shouldn't be the name of the system. The interpretation of the system has gotten sloppy in that it gets played over interference in a lot of cases. In the US it tends to refer to Standard American with a forcing or semi-forcing no-trump and any non-jump 2 ...
Alerting a Stolen Bid
if you think it is a stolen bid double, alert. if you have no agreement, do not even you think it is. Only describe if asked after Alert is made and if you don't know do not say "I think" say it is undiscussed To alert a bid that ...
Alerting a Stolen Bid
Having played stolen bid doubles, they are an alert and not an announcement. Any double with an unusual meaning requires an alert per the Alert Procedure guidelines from ACBL
Alerting a Stolen Bid
Although fairly common, at least in the US, they are alertable.
Rohit Gupta's bidding problem: AKJ764 AK7 95 T9
seems like I jumped with six and a similar point count once and you said I needed extras
