about me

Learned to play in my neighborhood group of moms with baby's, loved it from the start. Got into duplicate when I moved to Tokyo, loved that even more. Continued playing in Tokyo and Singapore, but never in competitions until we moved back to US in 2005, where I learned how bad I really was. We moved to St. Petersburg, FL. After a year of playing with anyone the director of the nearest club would find me, found a great partner. We went to NAP's and GNT's for the state in the C category and made LM together.  Had to break up partnership, because his wife didn't like hem playing with a woman and have finally found another partner and great mentors.

How to Attract Youth Players?
if you approach it as a difficult thing to learn it will be. As i said we played in a causal setting and weren't told it was hard. (The woman who taught us was a duplicate player, but understood we weren't) We didn't have a text, but ...
How to Attract Youth Players?
I can only speak for myself- When I was a young mother in my 20's a woman in the neighborhood decided to teach bridge to any of the at home moms that wanted to learn. We all brought our toddlers, put them down for a nap and learned to ...
Using BridgeTab on Amazon Fire tablets
i would agree, but i wonder if the tablet interface will daunt technophobes even worse tan the bridgematee.
Using BridgeTab on Amazon Fire tablets
for a small club I think this is a way to go. Certainly a less expensive option, if it works with ACBL Score in the US
Kang-Wei Fan's lead problem: AK52 --- AT95 KQ854

How weak is an opener in Standard 2/1
You would keep this pard happy if u passed
How weak is an opener in Standard 2/1
not opening this mess with 11 HCP and 4-3-3-3.. Scattered honors-no aces, not attractive.
Opinion on Opening 1D
When I started to play 40 years ago, we were told "open your longest suit first." I think some old saws hold true. No matter what partner holds you rate to be better off starting in clubs and not distorting your shape.
New Performance Metric for the ACBL
i read this thread with interest, I am a person who likes to compete, but will never be expert. We have to bring in new players and share the love of the game realizing that not everyone shares out goals. For some it is merely a social outlet, for others ...
Gameforcing or Forcing for one Round
you can play it however you want. The problem is with a non-2/1 system I would rather play it game forcing. So I would bid my 4 card spades first
