Bad bidding practices that you nevertheless see many long-time players engage in
Amen to all of the above! Something I keep stressing with students and earnest players with whom I play..
Hank Meyer's bidding problem: T94 K87542 --- AKT8
I agree....the 3 cd spades and moth eaten suit and partner a PH all add up to a pass.
Slow play
Steve is spot on...directors need to control the game, not vice versa..once players realize that you are weak or not serious about running the game, other problems will surface. One need not be a tyrant, but neither be a push over.A bridge club owner/director has much ...
Bad bidding practices that you nevertheless see many long-time players engage in

Slow play
I've frequently had to suppress a chuckle when about to pull a board from a slow pair, with say, 2 min on the clock, the pair says. 'don't worry, we're fast and will finish this one quickly'....to which I reply, 'if that were indeed true, I ...
Slow play
Barry: I agree that there seems to be a few players/pair combos that consistently take extra time ...then act surprised when they get a jolt/reminder about their slow play, often claiming 'the hand was difficult) [though no other pair took 11 minutes to take two finesses!] or other ...
