Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
There is a lot of fishy things in the given example....way too many to chalk off to 'client weakness' or some such excuse...Of the players/students to whom I have given this hand have ALL removed 3N to 4H...and some asked, 'what's the problem?'
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
The 'tactical' bid was the 1♥ response but who would chance it if partner might raise ♥'s?? But easy if partner has been instructed not to disturb the pro's 3N bids....

I really don't care about semantics- the problem offered for opinions just looks fishy...because it likely is....I have now polled nearly a dozen partners/colleagues/students and every one of them corrected to 4H, as who would not...unless.......
The 3 word challenge
THE card game.

and if my LHO asked about our game tries, then I would ethically tell him that our agreement (with a partner of the moment) is that we generally make such a bid with something in the suit rather than from xxx....that's all I am required to say...if ...
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
whatever style of GT one uses is not the point...it's trying to discern/agree on the difference between a psyche and a tactical bid...no doubt, sometimes that line may be blurred...so what? This case is something different...something that would have given me pause at the ...
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
Suppose I made a 'game try' holding ♦AQx....my partner declines and returns to 3 Major....my LHO lead a ♦...am I happy? Sure. Did I psyche? No...what was the 'gross distortion' in either values or length, etc? My agreement with many partners is that we make help suit ...
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
I disagree that a tactical bid is automatically a psyche...one is trying to take advantage of some perceived weakness of an opponent(s) in an effort to ethically put them at a disadvantage while understanding that your effort may well backfire...making, say, a phony game try in a ...
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
I do not think the 2H bid was a psyche versus some sort of tactical bid to dissuade the defense from leading one (bidding a weak suit for that purpose)...my concerns begin with the course correction to 3N by the pro, followed by the prompt pass by the client ...
Was this a fielded psyche and is the psychic bidder allowed to coach his client when the director is called?
well, we each have our own opinion, but the facts as stated just sound fishy...the auction looks fishy, the pro trying desperately to answer sounds fishy...and as a former TD, I have encountered situations like this, both officially and as a player..and the inconsistencies do not pass ...
