Jannes van 't Oever's bidding problem: K84 AT62 KQ763 K
Thanks for all your comments. My hand .. the delayed overcall was this: 5 KJ3 AT QJ75432 3NT at the other table was down 2 so we picked up a couple. But 5 was cold (trumps splitting).

"Kees" in English sounds like "case". Thanks for Tom Waits. Good call

Thanks, fixed.
Jannes van 't Oever's lead problem: A854 73 AQ9752 5
Actually I got the vulnerability wrong .. it should be the other way around. Anyway, partner rates to have a 4-crd suit, 5+ about two trumps therefore shortish . The Ace lead would have been successful, as partner had: Q Q4 J863 KJT843 If the Ace lead ...
Insufficient bid -> Information
Thank you Henrik, you've clarified it quite a bit for me :-)
Insufficient bid -> Information
My negative double would focus on the other Major, not promising the other minor. Therefore introducing a new suit on the 3-level requires extras. With a minimum 5-4 I would always rebid my Major. East might have passed a clean 3 bid, I don't know. But the 2 ...

Partner's 4 bid was: T8632 4 AKJ742 5 You might or might not agree with it.
Screens and Pauses
It is entirely possible I have rotated the deal 90 degrees (by accident).
Screens and Pauses
I don't have full facts as it didn't happen at my table. As West is a passed hand it is unlikely there is a forcing pass agreement. I'm quite confident in saying the (large) majority of qualified players will play takeout doubles in all positions. To me ...

Point wise you are strong enough for a jump to 3 but the suit is crappy. Distribution wise you have a genuine reverse, but you are a tad light for that. Does the 1 response lower the value of your hand enough to just rebid 2?
