How Should the 2D Bid be Treated
I agree, although I might say "more logical" rather than "useful", since it will come up so infrequently.
Yuan Shen's bidding problem: QJ8432 AT52 82 6
The fundamental question is whether N would ever double for takeout, red on white, as a passed hand at IMP's, while EW with an 11-card fit in clubs would stay silent either before or after the double. While in theory that could happen, has anyone ever done so at ...
Yuan Shen's bidding problem: AKQ Q3 8532 KJ74
I would have thought so too. That would have been my first choice.
Susanna Laan's bidding problem: Q6 KT432 --- AKQJT2
I am on a lonely branch here with 5C, but will you pass if you bid below 4S and righty bids 4S? Since I have decided that I want to be in at least 5 clubs, bidding it now may get them to 5S, and if partner has 3/2 ...
Mixed USBC Final
I was watching the final and had the same question. I'm sure it was just a wrong pull. Debbie must feel lousy about it. I suppose the only consolation is that it wasn't a bridge error, just one of those crazy things.
EBL Convicts Fantoni-Nunes
I'm interested in the answer to Ed's question. Could they come over to the US and compete here (say with different partners)? Do we have reciprocity?
The Bridge World
I agree with most of Peg's comments. Like Bill Jacobs (no relation), I started reading BW in college and have remained a paying customer since. And since my tournament time has been quite restricted by family and career, I find myself skipping over the articles about new conventions (who ...
The Bridge World
One of my favorite articles was a parody of MSC where an obvious bid choice was re-analyzed (and bid differently) by several different MSC experts, in the tone and style of those experts. Enough of the experts have changed that an updated version would be welcome!
The Bridge World, to the tune of The Merry Minuet
Very funny and creative! Well done.
Nickell Wins 2014 USBC
I loved watching this match. A few times I even called over my wife (a true novice) to show her some of the plays that had been made. Beautiful bridge, thrust and parry. I didn't want anyone to lose.
