Slam Bidding
We need you JDonn, don't leave us!
I think this is a good hand for UFR, but I want to point out that this is not as hopeless a contract compared to those typically featured. In fact, if I am not mistaken, 6H made at the table.
Off-shape Takeout Doubles
Paul - I probably make two adjustments: 1. I'm much more likely to follow Josh's advice against weaker players because they will tend to give up more equity following the t/o (i.e. they may not judge correctly by overbidding in competition, not getting to their best contract ...
Off-shape Takeout Doubles
One other major disadvantage that should be addressed is how much information you are giving to the opponents when you enter and it is their hand, which allows them to play with great certainty as to where the cards lie...
Dummy Strand
Nice article. I agree that the dummy strand is the best play, but I also think that West should get the discards right (with 4-2-4-3) based on the strength shown in the bidding, which almost certainly isn't being made on just 2-6-0-5.
Catering to Bad Breaks
I think North's final bid also depends on whether 2S shows a 6th S (or strong suit) or is a more generic default (e.g. w/o H stopper).
Four Choices
I vote for a club.
Do You or Don't You
Sometimes the two-suiter decisions can be influenced by (usually live) at the table feel (both the initial decision and pulling to second suit) - at your own risk based on only opponent's information of course.
Kibitzing while I wait
Nice Scissors Coup.
