We are playing 2NT as natural. Your reference to Cambridge Precision has been curiously helpful. It lead me to a BBO forum post that described at length various Precision variants. That is going to be helpful in my current circumstances
2♦ is not forcing so that risk is present. I’m sitting east and know I can lose the spade suit in this system. 1♦ seemed my best alternative at the table and would have worked this time.
