Can I not bid 1.5? Anyhow, take away either the 10 or 9 of and I'll content myself with 1 opposite the typical PD that doubles aggressively for takeout.

I would not have bid 4 but bidding 5 after PD didn't invite after your 3 bid is both hanging him for competing and a NPAB (New Partner Asking Bid).

Having last train available is a must for this auction and in my mind more valuable than making 4 a cube bid especially since the OP has stated that splinters aren't set to a minimum narrow range for them.
