What does "play period" mean? Given that this regulation only seems to apply to matches played in a single day with no significant gaps between stanzas, does it refer to the entire match?

I'd alert it on the basis of it having a "potentially unexpected meaning". Although if they also do this at the 4 level then that's not alertable as it's natural and above 3nt.
