Applying Vacant Spaces to Distributional Hands
I have no mathematical training, but your reasoning seems unsound to me. Let’s give partner 3-3-5-2. The chance of her holding e.g. A of is then 3/7, while the chance of her holding the A of is 5/13. If you then take into account ...
Gratuitous Question!!!
”No one else doubled. It's obvious the question affected the choice to double.” If by this you are trying to say that the fact that no one else doubled proves that the question affected the choice to double, you need to work on your logical deduction skills. If you ...
In the Well: Mikael and Ola Rimstedt
Mikael - being slightly older - is sometimes refered to as ”Nr 1”. Considering how much stronger Ola is at BBO-challenges, I’m thinking it’s time to give Ola that nick name instead. Your thougts on this?
Congratulations to Monaco! Now named official 'winners' of the 2014 European Championships

What would you do?
Can you really not accept as uncontroversial that this hand must balance when we have at least half the deck (mind you both opps are passed hands) and a stiff if their 8+ fit?

The hesitation suggests an unbalanced hand that cannot take out double because of a flaw. That flaw is probably short clubs. The hesitation thus clearly suggests 2NT over 3. Therefor I think I will have to bid 3.
What happened?
Im not saying any of the two should be allowed, just that the lack of a red thread in policy is evident.
What happened?
Yes. Is it to be concluded that outing bridge writers for - in context - unimportant transgressions is ok use of the site, but not outing multiple world champions for deliberate cheating?
Ulf Nilsson's bidding problem: KQT952 KT2 Q A53
Maybe a more honest description of the double would get a better referendum?
