about me

I am a Professional Bridge player based just outside London. I spend most of my time playing with clients and teaching in a 1-to-1 environment, but do some group work too. I enjoy playing some of the bigger events with my regular partner, Peter, and would like to be a more regular attendee at the US Nationals, which I have found to be the best bridge experience on Earth!

How do you play the spades?
Why can you afford two losers unless I am missing something? Doesn't two losers in spades mean we need to find the club 10 to ditch the hearts? Spose there is a possible H/C aqueeze too but...
Alert the Polish Club sequence 1!C-1!D-1!H ?
April fool!! Oh wait it's November ;)
Too good to sign off?
I've abstained because I want to bid 2D, which in my view should be like 2D over a drury type 2C bid - so saying I am not ashamed of my overcall and game is a possibility. If partner bids 2H I will let it go.
Gold Cup
I am afraid the assumption that "pairs sitting the same way would be immediately discovered" by BBO coverage is incorrect. In 2010 England and Sweden sat the same way in a European Championships - wearing team uniform and on BBO and nothing was discovered until scoring up. Not that I am ...
ATB - No Play Slam
To be honest I don;t even agree it's unlikely. Can give plenty of hands for 3S to produce a cold or with the odds slam. Of course can produce some hands which will bid a poor or even no play slam too...
ATB - No Play Slam
I'm not arguing that point, interested to see what people said. Only arguing with your comment that you can't imagine a slam opposite an overcall!
ATB - No Play Slam
Don't mind 4c being described as an overbid but if you can't imagine a slam oppsosite an overcall you haven't a very vivid imagination. Give partner AJXXXX KXX Void AXXX. Slam is a total claim and grand is probably with the odds on the auction!!
ATB - No Play Slam
I definitely do NOT agree that south can bid 4S!! If N held KXXXX AQXX XXX X that is a slam you want to play on the auction for sure!
What is the meaning of this double?
Bid 3N if you can sort of thing
Is using the rules (even obscure) always ethical?
Why did he violate law 73D2? " A player may not attempt to mislead an opponent by means of remark or gesture, by the haste or hesitancy of a call or play (as in hesitating before playing a singleton) the manner in which a call or play is made or by ...
