ACBL regional attendance - evening games, especially top flight KOs and Swiss events

This week, I am playing for the full week in an ACBL regional tournament for the only time in 2015 in Fairborn (Dayton), Ohio.

The time of the morning, afternoon, and evening sessions is 10:00, 2:30, and 7:30 with the tournament starting yesterday (Tuesday) morning and ending with the a stratiflighted Swiss on Sunday.

When I attend a regional, I expect to be playing in three sessions a day on most days.  But that definitely is not going to happen this week.  Possibly it will not happen on any of the five days preceding the Sunday Swiss.

Yesterday, the first day, there were only about half a dozen teams entered in the evening regular knockout event.  With so few teams, my team decided not to play.

Tonight, it was even worse.  Only three teams signed up to play (including my team) and there needs to be four teams to even hold a knockout event, so the event was cancelled.

The evening sessions tomorrow (Thursday) and Saturday have no knockout or Swiss and only a side pair game is available to play in.  On Friday, there is a one session Swiss I think may extremely few teams entering and would not be surprise if that is cancelled, also.

It's as if the 10:00 and 2:30 sessions are the main sessions.  The 7:30 p.m. sessions appear to be almost be demoted to secondary status, despite two regular knockout events scheduled to be evening only session events.

It's as if the 7:30 p.m. have taken on the secondary status (feeling like the "extra session") that the 9:00 a.m. sessions usually feel like with a 9:00/1:00/7:00 p.m. schedule.

This complete lack of interest in good players playing in knockout events in the evening sessions at this tournament is definitely going to affect my decision to attend this tournament next year.

Is there a solution to this problem?  Should different starting times like 9:00/1:00/6:30 or something similar help?  Has this been seen as a problem in other parts of the country recently?
