This ending came up at the club last night
Wanting 2 tricks in NT, you lead the ♠2 pitching ♣10 from the board. As it happens, West is confident you have ♣J but doesn't know for sure who has ♥Q so he pitches his little ♥ and East winds up giving you the last trick on the board.
It's a bit like a strip or a stepping-stone squeeze but you're throwing in the guy who isn't squeezed. The heart menace is a bit like a vice or guard menace in that West's guard is secondary but it's not exactly the anti-finesse guard of those menaces. It's not exactly the anti-cash guard of a clash menace either (and a clash squeeze is a 3 suit squeeze).
The position feels closest to a guard squeeze to me, so I could label it something like a stepping stone guard squeeze.
What do you think is the best name for this type of squeeze?
