Drury bidding poll followup

Nearly everyone bid 4.  At the table, I bid 3NT and got a bottom when the opponents were able to set up and run hearts.  I'm not entirely sure that proves much, as I would have had a top with the defending hands reversed, making the same number of tricks as the spade bidders.

I subsequently thought that perhaps 3 was the right call and was surprised that it got no votes at all in the poll.  This follow-up poll is to find out why.  Please choose the answer which comes closest to your view of the hand.

Secondary question: is it worth taking into account the chance that partner will have a perfecto (Axx xx xx AQxxxx) and 6 will be (almost) cold?

4 is better because the chance of improving the contract is not worth the information leakage
4 is better because even if 3NT is a better contract, partner won't be able to figure it out
4 is better because of the chance that after 3, partner will bid a slow 3 and your subsequent 3NT bid will be rolled back
4 is better for some other reason
I did not consider bidding 3 the first time around and now consider it the right call.
