OK - no one likes to sell out to 2 at favourable vulnerability (do they?), but can you do anything?

Partner has a few points (or opponents would be in game - presumably). So let's think about suit lengths.

In Diamonds | Partner has two (possibly 1 and an unsuitable hand for a negative double)

In hearts | partner would surely have raised with 3 or more - so he has 2 maximum.

That leaves 9 cards for the major suits. The partnership play Lucas 2s and a Multi, so partner can't have 5 spades and 4 clubs.

So Partner has 5 clubs and 4 spades. (If he had 3 spades opponents would surely have mentioned them).

Let's try an enterprising 3 call.

Well at least we've forced them up a level - and EW start putting their bidding cards away - but wait! South says that the auction hasn't finished yet!

This goes 3 off for -150. EW can make 4 or 3NT (or 3 for that matter) but no one bids 3NT.

I mean someone had to bid South's hand - but why did it also have to be South?

See why North does so badly at duplicate - he can invent chucks beyond the reach of most players.
