Honor discards playing Lavinthal

A partner is comfortable playing Lavinthal discards, so I have agreed. But we botched the defense of a hand when we pitched the Q behind dummy's Kxxxx. One thought that meant "absolutely lead a heart", the other thought "lead a spade." (I am deliberately avoiding giving the complete hand to focus on the signalling; please assume either lead might be correct.)

I am assuming the same principle applies to Revolving, Odd-Even or other dual-message carding; please comment if the specific method matters. I expect there will be opinions about the method but as I said, it's what partner likes.

When playing Lavinthal honor discards are:

the same as spot cards
