I want to do the right thing, but what is it?

I read with interest Mikael Groenkvist's article "what to you think of this?" where an expert partnership used UI in the bidding. We're closer to average than expert (think bracket 4) but a long standing partnership (husband). I wanted to do the right thing in the face of the UI I had, but I wasn't sure what that was.

We play Kokish after a strong 2 opening. We haven't forgotten until this:

I opened and and with just us bidding:

2-2-2 (missing alert - either hearts or a strong balanced hand)-3

3 has no systemic meaning (his bid is 2!) so now for sure he has forgotten the system not just the alert of 2.  He thinks I have hearts.

I had the strong balanced hand - what are my options/obligations now? Do I bid as if I really had hearts or can I bid something else, say 3NT. Do I pass 4 if he corrects? The auction is so off the rails.

I'm ready to take our bad result and explain to teammates but I want to do so as ethically as I can. I'm learning so much on BW!
