Illusionists at card play

Reading the Reese-Trezel book “Snares and Swindles in Bridge” has been entertaining. A few hands don’t stand the test of time because of superior signalling . Yet, it is an excellent read.

It made me wonder: of the great bridge players in the sky, who were the best at pulling off formidable ploys?

I will start the ball rolling by nominating John Collings. Many sources describe him making a grand slam missing KQ10xx of trumps. This is a short biographical link to John.

”… Britain's leading authority on making slams with two Aces missing ...” .The British Bridge World, Feb 1964.

Remember, your nomination must only be for deceased players who were experts at deception …. So please come forward with your suggestions, and reasons. Thank you.
