If 1NT is strong:

  • X = relay to 2 (single-suited clubs/single-suited diamonds, both majors)
    • 2C 
      • P = clubs
      • 2 = diamonds
      • 2 = majors
      • 2 = strong spade 1-suiter (treatment by Fred Gitelman)
      • 2NT = Game Forcing major/minor two-suiter
  • 2 = clubs and a major 
    • 2 = asks major
    • 2/ = natural
  • 2 = diamonds and a major 
    • 2 = pass/correct
    • 2/3 = natural
  • 2 = natural
  • 2 = natural
  • 2NT = minors 
    • 3m = preference

If 1NT is weak:

  • X = penalty oriented
  • 2 = spades and a round suit (hearts or clubs)
  • 2 = diamonds and a major
  • 2 = natural
  • 2 = natural
  • 2N = clubs or a good hand with both majors
  • 3 = 5-5+ -
