Three-card major suit openings by Jais and Trezel

At one point in his Bridge World report of the 1970 Bermuda Bowl, Kaplan said the pair "stole the pot" with a "patented three-card major opening."  This leads to two questions:

How frequently were they able to do this in their long career?  Did they have cases in which such an opening worked out badly?

Would it be possible to compile statistics on partner's length in the three-card suit when this was opened?  For this purpose, a complete record of all deal in the event under study would be needed--- a selection of deals would not be good enough.
