Two Strip Squeezes
(Page of 3)

Yesterday I played two deals that seem related. Each had a strip squeeze (squeeze endplay?).

I sat East.

+Since north pitched a spade, it looks like spades are 5-3. South encouraged hearts, and it looks like she started with HKxxx. That leaves her with just one diamond.

I thought I could place the cards, so I threw in South to make 3N.

Then came this deal.

If you read the position, you'll make another 3N on a strip squeeze. This time, however, I couldn't work out what was going on, so I was afraid to cash the clubs before throwing in South. I hoped the cards were like this:

Then, with a lucky deal and/or imperfect defense, I could strip squeeze North.

In practice, when I exited a diamond South decided I couldn't have HQxx based on the auction, and cashed two high hearts, so I made 3N anyway.

What is that play called?
