Weekend of pain
(Page of 2)

A catalogue covering every ’wrong view’ I took in the Tollemache would provide a very long article indeed - here’s a couple that are still troubling me.

An initial 3S by W would be a stopper ask and the 3H response to the double showed values(approx 7 to bad 10).

Kit Wolsey says there’s always something better than leaping to slam but I was struggling with how to find out about club wastage and/or poor trumps when there would be no safety in the 5 level as opposed to the perfect fit that we have.

Perhaps I shouldn’t actually give the hand since what I’m particularly interested in here is if you cue bid 3S now and partner bids 3NT then what does a bid of 4 of a minor mean? Is this now guaranteed heart slam interest and if so does it ask for help in the suit or cue bids?

2H was a weak two. I’ve posted two separate problems re this hand already.

As you can see the limit is 9 tricks in spades and 10 in clubs or hearts. However though 5C ‘cant’ be let through,5Hx is a different matter - needless to say I was soon clocking up minus 650.
